FLOOD : Army will help send food to flood victims

KEMAMAN: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Armed Forces would help send food supply and essential items to the flood victims in the east coast as many areas are inaccessible by road.

He also asked all relief centres to stock up extra food and basic items that could last for at least three days.
"We will also ensure that the relief centres will get clean water supply as some of them are affected by the power outage when the substations were inundated with floods," he said after visiting the flood victims at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Banggol here today.
Muhyiddin earlier took a helicopter ride to observe the condition at flooded areas here before visiting the main relief centre in the district.
He landed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultan Ismail before boarding an Army truck to visit SMK Banggol where more than 5,000 evacuees take shelter.
Muhyiddin also took the opportunity to meet the flood victims who were relocated to the school after their homes were inundated with floods on Wednesday.
Some of the victims took the opportunity to raise the problems they faced including lack of food and power and water disruption at the centre.
Rosyanti Mohd Sidek,37, said that the condition at the relief centre was quite bad as food and other essential items were inadequate.
"We have no electricity and water supply here for the past three days," said Rosyanti who has a month old baby with her.
